a Smorgasbord: Five of the Best

This is going to be a mixed bag.

1. When cycling, we usually stop for coffee on the bridge - literally stopped here for coffee 2 minutes before a thunderstorm hit on Sunday morning...how welcome was that flimsy shelter!

2. Some Banksy-esque stencil-art in West End.

3. the best liquid breakfast - a 'Thickie'* and skinny cap

4. This Oliver Burkeman article kind of explains why I am happier as an art therapist than I would have been if I had originally trained as a social worker, and not vice versa. Basically, because being an art therapist could come into the category of 'pursuing a long-held eccentric career ambition' rather than going relatively mainstream (social work) and being able to compare oneself with others more easily. Who knew?

5. Giraffes and Jackals -  The weekend before last, I went to a workshop at the Relaxation Centre, on Compassionate Communication, also known as Non-violent Communication, developed by Marshall Rosenberg. It is a little Californian, but really makes a lot of sense. We need a lot more giraffe language in the world right now. (And I don't mean Kevin and Malcolm flirting with each other on Q&A on Monday night).

more later.

*a smoothie with oats added, a la River Cottage.
